The Holidays Start at the CAC

Douglasville, GA – This year, the Cultural Arts Council of Douglasville/Douglas County (CAC) is stocked to the brim with holiday activities for everyone! From holiday shopping, art classes that inspire winter memories, cultural programs like the Kwanzaa Celebration, and even a winter themed art gallery, the CAC is the destination for holiday fun. The holidays are a perfect time to make cherished memories with families and friends. Visit artsdouglas.org to see the full calendar of events.

If you’re looking for a place to find amazing handcrafted items, look no further than the Douglas County Art Guild’s annual Christmas Arts Bazaar, featuring handcrafted jewelry, ornaments, cards, treats and so much more. The Arts Bazaar is hosted by the Douglas County Art Guild, a group of passionate local crafters, artists, and artisans. The Bazaar runs from December 5th through the 14th and is open Monday – Saturday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. in the Wynn building, located right next door to the CAC at 8652 Campbellton St.

Kwanzaa, or “First Fruits of the Harvest” in Swahili, is a weeklong celebration of African-American culture, traditions, history, and community. Each day of the holiday represents a guiding principle: unity, self-determination, collective responsibility, cooperative economics, purpose, creativity, and faith. Celebrate the holiday with the CAC and the Douglas County Connection on December 8th from 3 – 5 p.m. at the Kwanzaa Celebration.

From December 5th – 18th take a tour through the CAC’s Winter Wonderland Exhibit. Every year the CAC partners with the Douglas County School System to challenge students to create art inspired by the winter season. Every year, the young artists impress with snowy landscapes, fun frosty characters, and cozy holiday scenes. Explore this year’s Winter Wonderland starting December 5th. There will be an opening reception hosted by Nichols Center, on December 5h from 5 – 7 p.m. Parents can stop in to celebrate their child’s accomplishment and sip hot cocoa while touring the fun exhibit.

The CAC is offering up a Holiday experience just for young kids too! Children aged 5 to 10, and their parents are invited to join Santa, Mrs. Claus and Evie, The Christmas Elf for the 2024 Jolly Jingle Ball. This festive annual event includes a fun storybook read of “Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer” by Mrs. Claus and Evie, with a musical grand entrance by Santa himself. Participants will hear a lesson on being good and not getting on the naughty list and have photos with Santa, Mrs. Claus and Evie. Plus there will be Christmas cookies and gifts for all from Santa! Parents are invited to stay and take pictures during the ball. Register for the Jolly Jingle Ball online at: https://artsdouglas.org/product/the-jolly-jingle-ball30-35/ No matter how you celebrate the holidays, the CAC has a spot just for you in any of our festive holiday programs.
