Janet Newton is a photographer and artist residing in Douglasville. Born a “Jersey Girl” she traveled the globe as the daughter of a solider in the United States Army. At the age of 10, they finally set their roots in Georgia. Her first interest in photography began while she was on a church retreat and took a photography session with a darkroom developing class. Instantly, she fell in love with photography. She made her first camera out of a shoe box while in a photography class. Ms. Newton currently is the President of the Sweetwater Camera Club in Douglasville. Her photos are in homes from Washington, Oregon, New Mexico, and many other states across the country. Her goal as a photographer is to showcase the beauty and wonders of God’s creation, touching the emotions of another and have them experience the photograph as if they had taken the picture themselves.
