It’s here, it’s here! The Cultural Art Center’s time of cheer! The Cultural Arts Council Douglasville/Douglas County presents the annual winter art competition featuring work from Douglas County students from grades kindergarten through twelfth and Harvester Christian Academy. Enter into our historical Campbellton Street building where families, carolers, and Holiday enthusiasts alike have been celebrating the season for over a hundred years. The showcase of artwork will reflect the magical Holiday dreams of children. With many different views of what the season is about, the spirit of joy and festivity unite the gallery walls in one theme of heartfelt celebration. The opening reception for Winter Wonderland will be held on Thursday, December 5th, from 5 pm – 7 pm. Please join us for drinks and light refreshments hosted by the Cultural Arts Council’s Gallery Committee. The show will be on display from December 5th through the 20th during regular business hours of 9 am – 5 pm, Monday- Friday. Gallery admission, tours, and receptions are free. If you’re interested in a special gallery tour, please call the CAC to schedule an appointment (770.949.2787), but no appointment is necessary for casual drop-in viewings.
Also present on the evening of the reception will be our own beloved instructors for our seasonal Open House. Check our line-up of upcoming classes of all types, from traditional drawing sessions to crafty workshops. Wide-eyed children can take a look into the New Year with fascinating tutorials to develop their talents and dreams. The reception will feature ambient carols by Eastside Elementary. And a very merry surprise indeed, Mr. and Mrs. Claus will be making a guest appearance at the reception. The CAC Gallery Committee will be judging the competition. Prizes are sponsored by The Red Cockerill Gallery in Austell. Winners of this year’s art competition will be judged on originality, composition, craftsmanship, and creativity. The students have been learning about the elements and principles of design and have put their whimsical liberties to the test within a theme of one of the most beloved Childhood favorites – a Wintery December. The CAC comes to life at our annual Winter Reception with jolly culmination of art from the year and creative anticipation of abundance ahead.
