Free Craft Bags for the Community

Free Craft Grab Bags

Douglasville, Georgia – As the Cultural Arts Council Douglasville/Douglas County seeks to continue to find resourceful ways of bringing the arts into homes through the Covid-19 epidemic, one of those ways is “Free Craft Grab Bags”

Donations have been made by the CAC and community in a safe manner- with all efforts being made toward proper sanitary protective protocol – all in the hopes that children and their parents will have the means to stay positive and productive throughout this time of the Covid-19 stay-home regulations.

“With one of our top passions being creative families,” says Executive Director, Emily Lightner, “our children might currently be indoors away from crowds, but it’s just another chance to instill in our youth that every place, time, and situation is an opportunity to build the habit of art.” Creation is a lifestyle, one that maintains a forward-thinking mind and heart – and that is the most important thing at a time like this.

Emily Lightner, Executive Director of the Cultural Arts Council, reminds us constantly of our role in the community to “Create Outside the Lines.” If the lines have been drawn to stay indoors, then indoors is where the culture must be created, and the change can be made.

The Cultural Arts Council asks that those stopping to retrieve a bag please wait in line in the front driveway to acquire a bag one at a time, and to please only take one bag per child.

If families would like to give back, all the CAC asks is that they share the creations they are able to make with the resources that have been given. Please post pictures or stories of the creations you’re able to make with the crafting supplies on our social media page at the Cultural Arts Council of Douglasville/Douglas County Facebook page. Use the discussion board on our “Create Outside the Lines” event page @ https://www.facebook.com/events/1235176516680366/ and gather tips, ideas, and activities shared from others in the community. We hope our community remains safe, healthy, and continues to thrive.
