In honor of Black History Month, the CAC presents a collection of artwork by African American Artists in January and February.
“Sankofa’s Reflection” is an exhibit presented by African Americans for the Arts showcasing a group of artists in honor of Black History Month. Sankofa, represents the old African adage “always remember the past for therein lies the future, if forgotten we are destined to repeat it.” The exhibition takes inspiration from its namesake throughout its themes displayed in the exhibition. From bold color and patterns to notes of rhythm, music, and dance, the exhibition portrays imagery of reflection, life, memories, and the people who’ve shaped our past and nurtured our future. Join AAFTA in celebrating an open reception on Saturday, January 25, 5-7pm, hosted by DC Connection. “Sankofa’s Reflection” reception is open and free to the public.
