In honor of Black History Month Tracy Murrell, Jess Hill, Francine Stowe-Sinkler, Jan Hollins, and Mia Anika exhibit artwork in the collection on display from January 9 to February 17, 9 am to 5 pm. “Descendants Ascending” celebrates heritage, history, female empowerment, and the undeniable stories within our blood. Whether talent, strength, ability, vision, or expression, the art we make comes from an innate place inside each of us, driven by the past of our people and the future of our world. Reverberating the theme of individuality is the variety of mediums in the exhibit, from paint to printmaking and textiles. The theme emerges that what unites us most are our differences. Absorb the vision and bask in the reception on Saturday, January 28 from 5-7 pm, hosted by Douglas County Connection.
