CAC brings ArtPop to Georgia

ArtPop Street Gallery Billboard Competition Released

 Douglasville, GA – The Cultural Arts Council Douglasville/ Douglas County is proud to partner with ArtPop Street Gallery and Douglas County Travel and Tourism, to bring this amazing public art program to Georgia, Metro Atlanta, and Douglas County. ArtPop ATL will shine the spotlight on talented artists by placing their work on traditional static & digital billboards as well as displays at the ATL Airport throughout Metro Atlanta.  Artists in designated counties working in ALL media are invited to submit artwork for consideration.

Work from 30 artists will be selected by the ArtPop ATL selection committee in a blind jury process. The selection committee is comprised of representatives from the Cultural Arts Council Douglasville/ Douglas County, ArtPop, alum ArtPop artist(s), Lamar Advertising and two at-large community members. Selected artwork will be displayed on billboards owned and managed by Lamar Advertising, Clear Channel Outdoor, Link Media, Clear Channel Airport, and Outfront Media.

To be eligible for submission artists must be a resident of Atlanta, Barrow, Bartow, Carroll, Cherokee, Clayton, Cobb, Coweta, Dekalb, Douglas, Fayette, Fulton, Forysth, Gwinnett, Hall, Henry, Newton, Paulding, Rockdale, Spalding or Walton County, 18 years of age or older and the work must have been created within the past three years. Must have an active artist website to apply. One submission per artist.

This year one of the placements is reserved for a graduating Senior high school art student with plans to attend college in an artistic field. The high school student does not have to be 18 or have a website, but they do need to be transitioning after graduation to study the arts in college.

The call for submissions opens April 6 and submissions are due by May 23 at 11:59 p.m. Winners will be announced the week of June 1. Submission guidelines and announcements are available at artsdouglas.org/artpop. You must read the submission guidelines before submitting your application. The image submission guidelines are very specific. Submissions that do not follow the specifications exactly will not be considered. To apply, you will need to login or register with the Cafe Application system.

The mission of the Cultural Arts Council Douglasville/ Douglas County, 501(c)3 non-profit, is to nurture, guide and stimulate the enjoyment of, and participation in, the arts among Douglas County residents by providing an atmosphere conducive to the arts, broadening the spectrum of quality exhibits and performances available to the community, and fostering individual interactions with the arts through a wide range of satellite groups. The Cultural Arts Council is supported in part by the City of Douglasville and the Douglas County Board of Commissioners.

ArtPop is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization that works with arts organizations, philanthropists that support the arts and media companies across the country to promote artists, give them a voice, create public street galleries and energize residentscommutes.
