ArtPop ATL Class of 2020

Douglasville, GA The Cultural Arts Council Douglasville/ Douglas County is proud to partner with ArtPop Street Gallery and Douglas County Travel and Tourism, to bring this amazing public art program to Georgia, Metro Atlanta, and Douglas County. ArtPop ATL will shine the spotlight on talented artists by placing their work on traditional static & digital billboards as well as displays at the ATL Airport throughout Metro Atlanta.

Work from 30 artists were juried in by the ArtPop ATL selection committee in a blind jury process. The selection committee is comprised of judges with art and media backgrounds consisting of, Wendy Hickey – Founder of ArtPop Street Gallery, Jenna Albright – fine arts artist & graphic designer, Melody Roberts – graphic designer & owner of Out of Home Creative, Caroline Rust – fine arts artist and 2017 ArtPop Alum, Sara Ray – CEO of Douglas County Chamber of Commerce, & Emily Lightner – artist & Executive Director of the CAC. As ArtPop ATL grows in ATL, we look forward to an even more successful year in 2021. Selected artwork will be displayed on billboards owned and managed by Lamar Advertising, Clear Channel Outdoor, Link Media, Clear Channel Airport, and Outfront Media.

This year one of the placements is reserved for a graduating Senior high school art student with plans to attend college in an artistic field. This year’s recipient is: Abigayle Christensen. The CAC is ecstatic to see 12 Douglas County residents and CAC members accepted into the program. The mission of the Cultural Arts Council Douglasville/ Douglas County, 501(c)3 non-profit, is to nurture, guide and stimulate the enjoyment of, and participation in, the arts among Douglas County residents by providing an atmosphere conducive to the arts, broadening the spectrum of quality exhibits and performances available to the community, and fostering individual interactions with the arts through a wide range of satellite groups. The Cultural Arts Council is supported in part by the City of Douglasville and the Douglas County Board of Commissioners.

ArtPop Street Gallery is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization that works with arts organizations, philanthropists supporting the arts and media companies across the country to promote artists, give them a voice, create public street galleries and energize residents’ commutes.
